Celebrating Dharma on Ramanavami
What a better day than Ramanavami to talk about ‘The rich shades and inter connectedness of dharma’! ‘
Dharma lives in everyone’s heart and comes alive in our actions. Dharma is not a set of abstract principles or some metaphysical theory.
Dharma is protected when a dharma, one who upholds dharma is protected. When I uphold dharma, I uphold the laws and principles that sustain and enrich a society. When I uphold dharma, I am in harmony with what IS. When I uphold dharma, I have peace. I sustain the deep intelligence that is inherent through the order that is God.
Then when is it that I uphold dharma?
When I strive to achieve in my sphere of work, I am upholding dharma.
When I show acceptance in actions with myself and others, I am upholding dharma.
When I maintain cleanliness (shaucham) with respect to my body and mind and in the surroundings, I am upholding dharma.
When I maintain cheerfulness with respect to my situations and not complain all the time, I am upholding dharma.
When I show commitment to my roles and values by showing consistency in applying them, I am upholding dharma.
When I behave with compassion in understanding people and their background, I am upholding dharma.
When I strive for competence in my roles (competence in acquiring knowledge, skills and attitudes), I am upholding dharma.
